Our Story

A Collector's Brand.

Goal Line Gold was built around a simple idea: cards deserve to be seen. Not buried in a binder. Not stacked in a box. Displayed.

How It Started

Built From the Hobby Up.

"It was never just about owning the card. It's about the story behind it."

I've been around cards most of my life. I still remember saving up my allowance to buy a Ryne Sandberg rookie at the local shop. Then Kerry Wood struck out 20 in a single game, and collecting opened up in a whole new way — because my dad was right there with me, just as excited, ripping packs chasing his rookie.

Fast forward 25+ years and I've realized it was never about owning the card. It's about the story behind it: watching games, talking about it with my kids, and recognizing these aren't just collectibles. They're moments you want to hold onto.

At some point I wanted to display a few of mine, and that's when I noticed what was missing. Everything out there felt built for storage — top loaders, slabs, boxes. Nothing that actually showcased the card the way it deserved.

So I bought a 3D printer and went to work. The first version wasn't perfect, but it was different. It had depth, presence, and it made the card feel like a centerpiece instead of something tucked away. When people saw it, the reaction was immediate: "Where did you get that?"

That's when it clicked. This wasn't just a solution for me — this was something other collectors had been missing too. Goal Line Gold grew out of that question.

Notre Dame at Heart

Why the Irish.

Notre Dame has always been bigger than just football for me. It's tradition, family, and something that gets passed down. Some of my best memories are just watching games together — nothing fancy, just being in the room when something big happens.

That's what I try to capture in the designs. The feeling that this isn't just a card. It's part of something bigger.

The colors, the script, the goalpost, the gold helmet — there's no team with a more iconic visual identity, and it's the reason "Goal Line Gold" felt right when I was naming the brand. Navy. Gold. The shamrock. The promise of getting it across the line.

But here's the thing: the same care that goes into a Notre Dame frame goes into a Yankees frame, a Lakers frame, a Crimson Tide frame, or a frame for whatever team your kid's first card happens to be. Notre Dame is in our DNA. Your team gets the treatment.

The Why

Why Custom Framing.

Custom framing isn't a service. It's a choice the customer makes about how they want to enjoy their hobby.

You can keep your card in a sleeve and never see it. You can put it in a binder and flip past it. Or you can pick a frame, pick your team's colors, and put it on a wall where you walk past it every day and remember why you bought it in the first place.

That's the whole pitch. The frames are made to last, made to match your team, and made one-at-a-time by someone who would buy one for himself.

Meet the Owner

Hi, I'm James.

I'm based in Indiana, not far from Notre Dame — which probably explains a lot. Full-time electrical engineer by day and a builder at heart, always tinkering, always trying to make things better.

I've got a wife and four kids, and most of life revolves around family, sports, and whatever project I've got going in the garage. The collectors I enjoy building for the most are the ones who get it — people who don't just want to store a card, they want to showcase it. Whether it's the centerpiece of a display, a gift, or something tied to a memory, that's the kind of work I like bringing to life.
